I am a native New Yorker who relocated to the Twin Cities in November 2009 and gave birth to healthy twin boys in November 2010. I have been practicing Yoga since 1991, and teaching since 2003.
I received my first teaching certification from Om Yoga, NYC in 2004 and have supplemented this with Prenatal, Yin Yoga, Anatomy, and Yoga Therapy trainings since then. Before departing from NYC, I had been studying at NYC’s Iyengar Institute with Genny Kapuler.
Although initially my practice was primarily in the Vinyasa and Ashtanga traditions, a car accident in 2004 caused me to rethink and re-establish my yoga practice, and to embark upon the exploration of yoga as a therapeutic and restorative vehicle. My teaching emphasizes anatomical awareness, the spirit of mindful adventure, and the joy of discovery in a technique that combines Iyengar and Vinyasa elements.
I am also a writer and with a BFA in Drama from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts.
I encountered a great sense of joy in building community through my years of teaching Yoga in New York City and I am very excited to be a part of creating this same sense of community at Tula amongst seekers of greater freedom — in movement and in the way one’s life is unquestionably enhanced through the art, science, and practice of Yoga.
