UNNATA® AERIAL YOGA SKILLS WORKSHOP (pre-requisite to drop-in Aerial Yoga Classes)

This workshop is a prerequisite to attend the drop-in aerial yoga classes.  Learn how to stay safe and present in the fabric hammock as you invert, maneuver, balance, stretch and have fun!! Practice modification and propping techniques to help you work more comfortably in the fabric.  Elevate your yoga practice to a new level and experience it in a new way.

Natalie Goldberg’s Writing Practice gets at the physicality of writing by combining the ancient practice of sitting meditation with walking meditation to allow the wild mind to settle and flow outward onto the page, while SomaYoga aims to connect us to our deep center and radiate out our authentic selves. Writing is a physical activity that stems from this center and goes outward. Consciously engage your layers of being through breath, walking and sitting meditation, and lastly a writing practice. What wisdom are you bringing with you from the dark of winter? What are you awakening in yourself? Night and day are in equal balance at the time of the Spring Equinox. Spring is the season for the liver and gallbladder meridians which are associated with liver, gallbladder, eyes, blood, tendons and ligaments, anger, frustration and courage.  Opening through these meridians can lead to health, vitality and contentment.

Join Brianna for a two hour long Yin and Yoga Nidra practice that will help to clear the stagnate chi from the mind and the body. Use this humble and nurturing practice to welcome your body out of hibernation. Yin Yoga is a soft, still, deep and nurturing seated practice. It goes beyond stretching the muscles. It opens and creates space in the body while cultivating elasticity in the fascial system. Through this practice we will create space in the mind and body that will allow the unfolding of a fertile spring.

YOGA AND THE ARTIST’S WAY with Carrie Garcia

Combing the 4,000 year-old tradition of yoga and Julia Cameron’s guide The Artist’s Way, Creativity as a Spiritual Practice, this 12- week series uses Cameron’s Basic Principles to Creative Recovery and the Asanas of Yoga in conjunction with the Eight Limbs of Yoga to pave a nurturing path for those who wish to embark on an exploration of self through writing, movement and breath.

About Carrie Garcia, 200 RYT:  She is a certified yoga teacher in the Hatha Vinyasa style with an infusion of Iyengar. She is a member of the Minnesota Zen Meditation Center and has been practicing connecting with her spirit for over 20 years. While pregnant and single with her first child in 1992, Carrie was lead to multiple teachers, Marianne Williamson, Gary Zukav, Mary Swander and Deepak Chopra, to name a few. Through visioning and meditation, she learned that what she was seeking was always with her, always available, and in abundance! In the here and now, creation of an amazing life is possible! Carrie uses this mindset while teaching special needs and at-risk youth in the St. Paul Public Schools where she is a Special Education teacher and currently teaches yoga and mindfulness. She teaches Vision Board classes in and around the Twin Cities, as well as “Yoga and The Artist’s Way” workshops. Carrie has two incredible sons, enjoys the outdoors, photography, reading, dancing, music, and loves to travel.

Essential oils have the ability to interact with the mind and body in a way that allows one connect with the energetic body- and one’s true essence. Chakras are energy centers located throughout our bodies that govern different aspects of our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual bodies. Understanding and working with these centers can provide information for deep and profound transformation. By connecting with each chakra and understanding oils interact best with that chakra, you can start to get energy flowing freely in your body and start to bring your life into balance.

This 5-Week course will be and in depth look at the 5 Elements in relation to your Body, Mind the qualities and virtues of the Spirit. Each class with focus in on one element and includes and hour of Qigong movement and meditations to enhance the element and heal any imbalances
in the organ system. You will receive a Qigong 5 Element theory workbook that will support and guide your learning experience. Upon completion you will have a simple and clear way to create a daily Qigong practice. As well as a greater awareness of your body-mind connection.

Join Molly McManus, co-owner of Yoga North, for a workshop that explores the ancient system of medicine called Ayurveda. Learn about Ayurveda’s history and constitutional system that includes the three doshas – vata, pitta, and kapha. Ayurveda and Yoga are often thought of as sister sciences, and understanding which constitution describes your state of being can be helpful in improving your Yoga practice and moving towards balance in the mind, body, and spirit. Molly will assist you in determining your constitution, and provide specific recommendations to best support your health.

Dinacharya is the Sanskrit word for “daily-routine”. It’s a concept in Ayurvedic medicine that looks at the cycles of nature and bases daily activities around these cycles to help establish balance useful for promoting health. Routines covered by Dinacharya include: waking time, elimination, hygiene, massage, exercise, bathing, meditation and prayer, meals, study, work, relaxation, and sleeping. Come and learn some of these very practical and beneficial routines!

Use of essential oils improves physical strength and mental focus. They can also help to regulate memory, creativity and motivation. The sense of smell is our most primal sense, dating back to the origins of life on Earth. In yoga oils can be used to enhance asana, pranayama, meditation, and relaxation.

Join Brianna Darling, RYT 500 for a sense awakening experience. You will learn why essential oils are important, and how incorporate them into your practice and life. The female pelvic floor is a topic that greatly affects women’s health and wellbeing, yet we rarely speak about what’s going on “down there”. In America it’s rare to discuss the details of our pelvic floor and our culture has encouraged us to be disconnected from this part of our body, including the lower abdominal region. As a result, women suffer and settle with discomfort as part of life. If you have experienced pelvic instability or pain, lower back pain, pelvic floor dysfunctions, stress incontinence, sexual discomfort, oran prolapse, pregnancy, or simply want to learn more, this workshop is for you! We will take time to discuss the anatomy of the pelvic floor and the “inner core” muscles, as well as better elimination practices. We will learn exercises to release, stabilize and strengthen this vital center. We can improve the function of the pelvic floor as we age, helping us age more gracefully! CHAKRA MAPPING: EXPERIENCE YOUR ENERGY BODY with Gracia McKinley

Join Gracia and the Yoga North 500 Hour Teacher Training students for an exploration of the chakras. This unique workshop combines yogic theories of the energy body and the chakras with Hanna Somatic Education and Somatic Yoga. You will experience the flow of prana (life force) through your own system and represent that experience on paper with colors and symbols. You will bring home a work of art that is a map of your energy system on that day. No experience necessary. Gracia combines her love of yoga, Hanna Somatics, and visual art in this fun and unique workshop. Gracia is a Certified Hanna Somatic Educator, a yoga therapist and E-RYT 500, and holds a Master of Fine Arts Degree from Cranbrook Academy of Art.

If you would like to deepen your practice or become a certified yoga teacher, come learn about the Yoga North 200 & 500 hour yoga teacher training certification and their therapeutic approach to yoga.

Yoga North uses unique techniques based on the Yamas & Niyamas and a progressive approach to classic yoga using somatics, therapeutic yoga and bridging these techniques back to classic postures/asana. You will deepen your study with areas of study in body, breath, mind, and philosophy. The course consists of 6 months, one weekend per month with additional home study, practicum work.

SourcePoint Therapy works with points in the human energy field that connect the physical body directly to the universal blueprint of health. Module 1 introduces the theory of the Blueprint of health, teaches energy scanning techniques for locating blockages in the physical body that are obstructing the flow of information from the Blueprint, and how to address those blockages. Students also learn the principles and practices of the fundamental Source Points (the Diamond, Golden Rectangle and Navel Points). These points are located in the body’s energy field and connect the body to the Blueprint.

MODULE 2: WORKING WITH THE INNER TEMPLE:

Module 2 focuses on points that can help open, relax, and support the sacrum, as well as guardian points to activate the natural guardian energies of the body. Students learn to work with energetic structures in the body’s energy field to bring balance and order to the flow of energy in the body.

Who can benefit from these workshops? Anyone interested in supporting their personal health of body, mind and spirit, or that of family and friends, through simple energy healing methods. Doctors, Massage Therapists, Structural Integrators, Acupuncturists, Physical Therapists, Yoga Teachers, Doulas (Birth Assistants), and Psychotherapists have all found this work helpful in their practices.

About Bob Schrei: Bob is a Certified Advanced Rolfer with 29 years experience, a Biodynamic Cranial-Sacral Therapist, an artist and former Zen teacher, and the co-originator of SourcePoint Therapy with his wife and partner in healing work, Donna Thomson, MSW. Donna is an intuitive, meditation teacher, and author of the book Simple Meditations to Use your Energy Effectively, Sentient Publications, 2006.

We will explore short meditation, creative visualization, and yoga.

We will explore a wide variety of art projects, art materials and techniques.
We will explore topics visually such as: Self- esteem, Self -compassion, feelings, friendship, teamwork compassion, empathy , for self and others.
The girl’s leadership in the direction of the group will be valued and their unique contributions and talents will be honored and appreciated!
