TEEN YOGA 5-CLASS SERIES with Abigail Tuominen

  • DATE: October 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th & November 3rd
  • DAY/TIME: Tuesdays, 4:30-5:30 pm
  • COST: $60 for all 5 classes

Teen Yoga gives teenagers the opportunity to increase well-being, learn more about themselves, and build community with others their age! This class series will cover the fundamentals of Yoga from a beginner’s perspective. With the guidance of certified Yoga teacher Abigail Tuominen, we will explore mostly the Vinyasa and Hatha styles of Yoga. Each class will include movement, meditation, intention-setting, breathing exercises, and some discussion.

There are so many benefits to a regular Yoga practice. Yoga can help to improve organ function and manage emotional health, strengthen muscles and increase flexibility, calm the nervous system, and create a more compassionate and joyful mind. This practice is especially important for teens, as their bodies are transitioning, their minds expanding, and support is needed throughout all the change.

Abigail Tuominen was first exposed to Yoga through a Teen Yoga class in her hometown of Amherst, Massachusetts. As a 13-year-old, she started dealing with depression and anxiety and didn’t feel like she had the support she needed. Yoga helped her feel comfortable in her body, calm and centered in her mind, and gave her new and refreshing insight into her life. She is now a Yoga teacher and Emotional Release Therapy practitioner and is committed to empowering others to feel better in their bodies, tune into their sensations, and start using the breath as a tool to cope, heal, and empower themselves.

You don’t need any Yoga experience to attend, just wear comfortable clothes and bring a water bottle. All teens welcome, just as you are! $60 for 5-classes. No need to purchase props, we rent for free!

*Scholarships are available upon request. Please contact us for more information at tulayogawellness@gmail.com

  • COST: $120 for all 3 sessions

This 3-week series will teach you the skills of mindfulness, self compassion, and relaxation through imagery, guided relaxation, and suggestions to your unconcious mind.

Message from Stacy:

“I first experienced hypnosis about 10 years ago. I had no great expectations for the experience, but after seeing how effective, gentle, and life changing it could be, I began telling people that every family should have a hypnotist on retainer.  I am excited to bring this underutilized, powerful skill to more people. I believe that the real power of hypnosis is that it can build overall health in addition to addressing specific concerns. I strongly believe in incorporating tools to improve self relaxation, self kindness, and mindfulness into each session. Sessions are easy, safe and deeply relaxing.  Anyone can benefit.  Just relax in our super comfortable anti-gravity chairs.  A guided meditation into a deeply absorbed state follows.  Once you are in this healing state, suggestions are carefully worded using imagery, metaphor and direct suggestion to allow your unconcious mind to achieve your specific goals.”

JourneyDance is a movement system based on the belief that dance has the power to transform and heal us by bringing us back to our innate, intuitive nature. In this transformational workshop, Summer weaves together yoga, dance, shamanic ritual, tantric meditation, and mystical poetry. We will move, shake, celebrate, and heal – connecting with each other, and awakening to our whole, authentic and eternal selves.

On October 30th, we will dance with the spirit world! In autumn, we celebrate the energy and wisdom of our ancestors. We accept the inevitable journey from life to death that we all must make when the time comes. We de-stigmatize death and thereby, become more fully alive.

Contrary to the popular understanding of Halloween as dark and scary, Samhain (the original, pre-christian celtic festival at the end of October) offers an auspicious and more positive view of death. Ancient wisdom traditions from Mexico to India celebrate this brief period at the end of October when ghosts and spirits wander freely among us. Forgo or compliment your Halloween plans with this profound and powerful movement practice dedicated to ancestral memory and lineage as we pull back the veil between the embodied realm and the eternal. Join JourneyDance instructor, Summer Joy Hills-Bonczyk for this liberating and soul-shaking dance experience that will heal your body, open your heart, and enliven your imagination. Absolutely no prior dance experience is required. Consider bringing a small object to honor someone who has passed to place on our altar.
We dance barefoot, but if you have foot issues please wear comfortable shoes. For more info about Summer, visit her website.
Please note that scholarships are available – just contact summerjhb@gmail.com

See you on the dance floor!

What is meditation? Why do we use it and how do we start? This class is for those who are new to mediation, or people who have a sporadic practice and would like to develop a more sustainable routine.

In class we will discuss and practice both guided and self-guided meditations, how to get comfortable in mediation, and what mental tools we need to meditate. We will talk about the connection between yoga and meditation, discussing 8 limbs of yoga. We’ll take time to identify what practices and times are reasonable to enact in your life.

Our goal is to bring the mind back to its natural state of balance, moving our focus from the chaos surrounding us and back into ourselves. This workshop will help to develop tools allowing you to find peace in all moments of your life.
