SomaYoga, developed by Yoga North International SomaYoga Institute, is a unique blend of Somatic Movement,Therapeutic Movement, Asana, and other yoga practices. Somatics, created by Thomas Hannah, is a neuromuscular re-education method that releases tension patterns in our body, wakes up areas that have gone quiet, and encourages functional movement and freedom in our beings. Stress, overuse, underuse, compensation, strain, trauma, or injury can cause some parts of our body and mind to go unconscious and lose function. Learn about the nervous system, brain, muscles, and how to develop your internal awareness to create freedom, stability and strength.
In this workshop, we will review and experience the SomaYoga methodology and therapeutic approach yoga and how to integrate this into your life. This workshop will include an overview, discussion, practices, take home practices & handouts as well as the Yoga North International SomaYoga Institute SomaYoga Movement Guide.
This workshop is for you if:
You are curious, in pain, experience tension, or anyone else who would like to be empowered to retrain your nervous system and find your freedom, stability, and strength.
You are an athlete or active in a sport/activity and would like to prevent compensation & injuries, create efficiencies, or take your activity to a new level.
You are a yoga teacher, body worker, PT, OT, chiropractor, therapist, or any other provider who would like an introduction to the SomaYoga methodology for their own practice and a primer for future SomaYoga Intensive or Yoga North teacher trainings. CEU’s available
